Editorial policy

How we research, source, correct and fund our guides.

Last updated

These are the rules every guide on Spray Foam Guide follows.

Sources

  • We prefer primary sources: federal and state agencies, building codes, manufacturer technical data and safety data sheets, and peer-reviewed building-science research.
  • Every factual claim that needs a source has one, listed at the bottom of the page with the date we accessed it.
  • Cost figures are published only with their source, date and what they measure. If we cannot find a figure we trust, we say so. We do not invent averages or per-square-foot prices.

What our guides are not

Our guides explain options and questions. They are not building-science or engineering assessments, legal advice, medical advice or code determinations. We do not give do-it-yourself instructions for spraying two-component foam, because it involves chemical exposure and fire-safety requirements that call for trained installers.

Review and updates

Each guide shows the date it was last updated. We review guides when regulations, permits or cost sources change, and at least once a year. We are adding independent technical review by a qualified building-science professional; reviewed guides will name the reviewer, their qualifications and the review date.

Corrections

If you find an error, tell us through the contact page. We fix confirmed errors promptly and note significant corrections on the page.

Money and independence

Catalyst Digital Services LLC may earn referral fees or sponsorship from contractors. Paid listings are labeled. Payment never buys a recommendation in a guide, a better review outcome, or a claim we cannot back up. We do not accept payment to remove accurate information.

Contractor information

Directory listings come from public business information. A business is listed only when its own website describes spray foam work, and a state license is shown only when we matched it in official license data. See how our listings work. We do not call a business "insured" or "certified" without a named, current source.

Use of AI tools

We use software, including AI tools, to help research and draft. A person edits every guide, and every sourced claim is checked against its source before publication.
